La Sportiva and Garda Trentino Trail are joining forces on the trails of Alto Garda to create a new collaboration: from the 2027 edition, taking place from 14 to 16 May, the event will be known as La Sportiva Garda Trentino Trail and will bring with it many new developments.

The leading outdoor company thus becomes Title Sponsor of the event organised by ASD Garda Trentino Trail, which has grown throughout its previous eleven editions to carve out a position of major importance on the national and European trail running calendar, as demonstrated by the more than 30% of international participants in the 2026 edition, which also set the all-time record for “The partnership with Garda Trentino Trail confirms the deep connection with a territory with an extraordinary vocation for outdoor activities,” comments Vittorio Barrasso, Brand & Communication Manager of La Sportiva. “Supporting events of this calibre allows us to remain close to the heart of the Mountain Running community, while at the same time enhancing the territory and generating a real impact for a unique destination such as Garda Trentino.”

THE NEW FEATURES

There will be five races at La Sportiva Garda Trentino Trail, with the main innovation concerning the Extra race. After four editions, the self-navigation format will give way to a 100-kilometre ultratrail on a fully marked course, featuring 5,800 metres of elevation gain, with start and finish in Arco and a passage over the summit of Monte Stivo (2,060 metres), one of the landmarks of Alto Garda, before descending towards the lakeside and joining the course of the flagship Garda Trentino Trail race.

There will also be changes to the main race compared with previous editions. Its start will move from Riva del Garda to Arco, creating a 75-kilometre loop with 4,000 metres of elevation gain, including the spectacular section between the towns of Arco and Riva del Garda before entering the famous Ponale Trail.

The other Saturday races will remain unchanged: the 43-kilometre Ledro Trail and the 30-kilometre Tenno Trail, as well as the Sunday Garda Trentino Castle Run (12 km), with its double passage through Arco Castle, an authentic symbol of the town.

REGISTRATIONS OPEN ON 1 SEPTEMBER

Registrations for La Sportiva Garda Trentino Trail will open on 1 September 2026 through the DataSport platform, with participants registered for the 2026 edition able to confirm their place from as early as 20 August. The maximum number of participants will be set at 2,500, with each participant receiving a La Sportiva race pack.

The finish of all distances will once again be in the centre of Arco, with the finish line returning to Viale delle Magnolie, while the race headquarters will once again be hosted by the nearby Municipal Casino. The central squares of Arco — Piazzale Segantini, Piazza Marchetti, Piazza III Novembre and Piazza delle Canoniche — will host the Expo area, which has continued to grow throughout the previous editions.

GARDA TRENTINO

A true outdoor paradise, Garda Trentino offers a 360-degree range of opportunities for countless sports, from climbing to trail running, from cycling to water sports and much more.

For trail running and hiking, the network of trails connects the lakes of the area — Garda, Ledro, Tenno, Cavedine, Toblino and Santa Massenza — with the surrounding peaks, including summits above 2,000 metres such as Monte Stivo, Monte Altissimo and the peaks of the Ledro Alps.

This is the stage on which Garda Trentino Trail has developed its routes over the years, touching the main locations throughout the area in its various editions, including the aforementioned lakes, Arco Castle and olive groves, the Ponale Trail, the Pile-Dwelling Museum of Molina di Ledro, Punta Larici and its ridges, the scenic Sentiero della Pace, the Prospero Marchetti Refuge on Monte Stivo, the Damiano Chiesa Refuge on Monte Altissimo, the Nino Pernici Refuge at Bocca di Trat, the San Pietro Refuge on Monte Calino, the medieval villages of Tenno and many others.

These are some of the highlights of the various courses, together with the spectacular views guaranteed kilometre after kilometre, and the privilege of running through a territory ranging from 70 to 2,100 metres above sea level, where in a single day it is possible to cross olive groves, vineyards and snow-covered trails, as also happened during the 2026 edition.
